RED 7 SALON was recently named the Best New Salon in Chicago (MODERN SALON's hometown) by Chicago Magazine in its annual "Best Of" issue.

The salon is co-owned by Jason Hall and David Kafer.

Hall, a business consultant with no salon experience, decided to join Kafer in a joint venture to open a salon that would be not just a great styling destination, but a welcoming, intimate retreat in the heart of the city.

"Drop your ego at the door," is the motto of Hall and Kafer, who regard their clients as extended family. Entering RED 7 is more like entering the co-owner's home than their business. Antique furnishing, music selection and details like towels sprayed with lavender, create an environment that clients love. If they want to spend even more time in the salon, Hall and Kafer sponsor book and dinner clubs for their clients.

How did the salon get its name? Both owners say red is their favorite color and 7 is always a lucky number.
